Point of Impact’s focus is on 19 officer-involved shootings of unarmed people, occurring in Texas after Sept. 2015. The list of cases was cultivated by first identifying shootings of unarmed people, as reported to the Texas Attorney General’s office under a state law requirement.
In the first year of the new law, Texas law enforcement agencies reported shooting 169 individuals, including 33 who were unarmed.
The 19 cases span the state and involve African American, Hispanic and Anglo individuals being shot by the police. Explore details of the cases below:
